Take The High Road

It has come to my attention that many agents have been very quick to point a finger at fellow agents declaring “unethical”! Not only are they saying someone’s actions are unethical, keep in mind this is purely their opinion, they are then posting these comments and accusations in social media formats. I have to say that accusing someone of such a strong statement as unethical, and to post it to the public is bordering slanderous. Please do not participate in these forums or air your thoughts about someone else on Facebook, linkedin, twitter etc. We must always be the professional here. Even if the other agent is not acting in a professional and kind manner it is not our place to condemn them publicly. If in fact the agent is behaving badly or you are concerned they may be doing something unethical, bring it to me for discussion. I will then decide with you a plan of correction whether it be contacting the agent or their Broker.

Please remember when you respond or remark to theses postings you are only hearing the writers version and quite possibly not all the facts. By posting your comments you may be potentially putting yourself in the middle of something that you would really not like. There is also the potential of posting something that may be taken the wrong way thereby putting you in legal harm’s way. I will give you an example of that – An agent posted that “maybe I should not show (the agents name) listings” this could be a huge problem for FREC and your local board of Realtors if this comment was used against you by that agent suggesting you made good on your comment. Also declaring boldly someone’s actions are “unethical” by responding to a post you may be accused of slander or malicious behavior. These posts are out there somewhere forever, just like email!!

PLEASE just take the high road! Mudslinging and name calling does not solve a problem it only exasperates it! Let’s be the example of professionalism not made an example of! Remember I am on your side and want to help you anyway I can!

Now go out and make this the best day ever!!!
