Red Day 2012

What a GREAT Red Day!

I Joined the Palm Harbor office and put a few brush strokes on the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center. They did a fabulous job making baskets and painting the building.

Then had a treat at the HOPE Children’s Home. I Had lunch with the kids there, heard them sing some beautiful, heartfelt songs and turned the jump rope for them.

Our Tampa agents did a fabulous job sprucing up the cottages there and cleaning busses.

Then we topped it off with a visit at Clothes to Kids.  If you haven’t heard about this fabulous outreach, wow!  The Region teamed with Belleair, Tampa and Palm Harbor to deliver dozens of bags of clothes. The Clothes to Kids store provided wardrobes for over 12,000 Pinellas County kids last year. They’ll do another 13,000 this year!  They have a wonderfully warm store and I’m so proud to be associated with so many agents who made a difference in our communities today.

Truly put perspective on building Careers worth having, businesses worth owning and Lives worth living!

Number One in Marco Island Real Estate

The 2011 Awards celebration was held recently in our Marco Island office – check out these results!

  • The McCarty Team was the #1 Agent on the island for Closed Volume.
  • The Wilkins Team was the #3 Agent on the island for Closed Volume.

The McCarty Team was number 1 for the entire Marco Island Board of Realtors and Wilkins was #3. This was based off of closed volume of $44,531,750 for McCarty and 34,901,493 for Wilkins.

Welcome Jeff Arrendale to Keller Williams Belleair Office

Jeff is a second generation Real Estate Broker and grew up in and around Real Estate. He has had his Real Estate Broker license for over 25 years but did not use it except for an occasional transaction when he would buy or sell my own home.

Jeff spent most of his life working in the Healthcare field as a Respiratory Care Practitioner specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care. He also spent many years working in the Trauma unit, Emergency Department, non-invasive and invasive Cardiology services, and Neuro-services.  After 20+ years of adrenaline, Jeff decided to move into another role and manage multiple healthcare offices. He divided his time between the operations and sales management of Homecare, Hospice, and infusion companies.  Jeff’s last 10 years have been spent managing numerous teams across 6 states. He has always kept his Real Estate license active and knew that one day he would be able to pursue his dream of working in the Real Estate field full time.

Jeff’s guide and mentor in his Real Estate career was his mother, who was an accomplished Real Estate professional. She was influential in so many lives and helped bring the joy of home ownership to hundreds of families in the West Atlanta area. She also brought many people to the field of Real Estate over her years in the business. As the recipient of the Phoenix Award from the Board of Realtors in Atlanta, she was always doing her best to bring the joy of Real Estate to everyone she met.

I am glad that I now have the opportunity to continue in my mom’s footsteps. She would have been happy to have known that I finally made it to the career that she wanted me to pursue.It has been a long and winding journey that has brought me to this profession and to this time in my life. I hope to grow my business quickly so that I can have the love of my life, my wife Deb, join with me in the Real Estate profession. I look forward to working with the team at Keller Williams.

I was in Orlando Florida last month, with almost 10,000 realtors from Keller Williams Realty.

The Annual Awards ceremony was wrapping up and there was great excitement because this year there was a BIG Giveaway. A new Ford Edge! The contest was trumpeted for months. Everyone was talking about it.

Before Any Great Success, People Usually Visualize It

When the announcement came, a roar went up from the right side of the room and bouncing out of the mass of humanity was a woman named Maria Pumilia. She had a fabulous black dress, her hand over her mouth. She was crying as much as laughing. Her excitement overwhelmed the room. Maria quickly flashed her cell phone to the person who’d announced her name. WOW!, I thought. I know this is your dream of a winner for a contest. Here’s what I didn’t know:

Maria flashed her cellphone because there was a picture of the New Ford Edge—with the words, “MY CAR” She said she’d prayed EVERY day for the car—because she needed it. Groups of agents had come into the market center each day saying how this was going to be Maria’s car. She submitted 573 postcard entries. She bought a brand new dress just for the awards, so she’d be well-dressed at the awards—and here’s the clincher. She had bought and paid for a ticket from Albuquerque to Orlando—for his sister—who flew in the next morning—-to drive the Ford Edge back home with Maria.

How Rising Interest Rates Will Impact Affordability

For those who can afford to buy, trade up, or invest, our current market presents a lifetime opportunity. Reposted from KWblog.

In a recent Forbes blog post, multimillionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson declared that today’s record-low interest rates made this the best time to buy homes in fifty years. “If you don’t own a home, buy one,” Paulson said. “If you own one home, buy another one, and if you own two homes, buy a third and lend your relatives the money to buy a home.” Why should we care what Paulson thinks? Well, he was among the few to accurately predict the subprime collapse and, while no one has a crystal ball, a closer look at the numbers supports his call to action.

Historically low interest rates are the key…and they aren’t likely to hang around for long.

As we wrote in SHIFT, buyers who “choose to wait until prices come down more” are gambling that interest rates will hold steady or drop. The truth is even a 10 percent drop in home prices is nullified by a 1 percent increase in interest rates. The figure below illustrates how this works for a $250,000 home purchase and the relative likelihood of each scenario.

To figure out which was a smarter bet–counting on home prices to fall further or interest rates to rise–our research department took the last ten years of monthly home price and mortgage interest rate data and ran the numbers to see which was more likely: an increase in mortgage rates or a further drop in home prices. Here’s what we found:

  1. A one percent increase in mortgage rates is ten times more likely to happen than a ten percent drop in home prices.
  2. A one percent rate increase more than offsets a ten percent reduction in home prices.
  3. When interest rates fall by one percent, the total interest paid is almost three times more than the interest savings from a ten percent drop in home prices.
  4. The probability of both happening at the same time is ridiculously small, and homeowners would still pay 15 percent more in interest over the life of the loan.

Interest rates have dominated the news in recent months as we’ve shattered record low after record low. Potential home buyers need to understand the positive financial impact low interest rates have on the cost of home ownership and the thousands of dollars that can be saved over the life of a typical mortgage loan. For those who can afford to buy, trade up, or invest, our current market presents a lifetime opportunity.

The Path To Success – Is Through Failure

   “You don’t succeed your way to success, you fail your way to success.”    That was the topic of one of Gary Keller’s Session’s at the Family Reunion earlier this month.

“Everybody on this planet has been a loser in life at SOME TIME,” said Keller.   The trick is not to stop, especially not while you are losing.   That’s the only way you actually fail.

The depth of the concept can be difficult to grasp, unless you look beneath the veneer.  R.H. Macy, J.K Rowling,  Soichiro Honda, Milton Hershey, and F.W. Woolworth, were all REAL people, with real failures—lots of them, before finding phenomenal success.

Feeling sorry for yourself because you were rejected?  Why Colonel Sanders SECRET recipe was rejected over 1,000 times!—Before it became famous chicken.

Upset because you were criticized?  Well,  Walt Disney was turned away for lacking imagination. 

Depressed because you are carrying too much debt?  Harry Truman worked for years to pay off debt.  13 years to be exact!

No matter how dire your situation may be, you can work your way out of it and become great.  Every success story has done just that.  No one can determine how big you think or how high you go, but you!  Why not make 2012 the year, you decide to go for it?   Fear not, failing your way to success.   The reality is—it’s the only way to get there!

1980. The Cold War.  It was a time of great tension between the United States and the Soviet Union.  Along came a hockey team that revived the spirit of our nation. The Russian Team had beaten all the best PROFESSIONAL teams in the world and had rolled the U.S. amateur team just before the Olympic Games by a score of 10-3.
