What made you choose real estate as your career?

Robin Suslick: The freedom to build my own business without needing a ton of money for startup costs.

Why did you want to join Keller Williams?

Suslick: I was attracted to the culture, belief system, commission cap, leverage, and growth opportunities. The difference with Keller Williams starts with the vision Gary Keller and Mo Anderson implemented years ago. Keller Williams is a company that shares profits, caps commissions where one can earn 100 percent, provides world class training, and more. This creates an environment where each REALTOR works as a team in a supportive cultural in simple, yet tough industry.

Real estate is a tough business. Keller Williams has a culture where those who you normally would think as competitors are those that help support and grow your business. The difference allows a REALTOR mental white space to spend more energy on his or her own business to build a business worth owning.

What have you liked most about working as part of Keller Williams?

Suslick: The people. Everyone is willing to help and share knowledge at all levels. It’s a real team and family atmosphere.

Based on your experience, what advice would you give to new agents?

Suslick: Find what works for you and just keep doing it. For example, during this past year I found several lessons I would share:

  • Plugging in to a system and having an organization that I could turn to for advice when deals got hard was a life saver.
  • Sticking with it and not quitting.
  • Being able to come from contribution… doing the work but leaving the results up to God.
  • We can really only do so much. This business will drive you to that realization. We are not in control!
  • Much of the amazing success I’ve had was when I put in the grueling time and effort, and went to bed knowing I’ve done all I could do! And Bam! Amazing things happened. Deals fell in my favor and people saw amazing things happen to them… it’s never about the real estate.
  • This business just gives me an opportunity to get close to people I otherwise wouldn’t be able to and watch amazing things happen in their lives.
